Whirlpool direct spark oven
« on: October 23, 2011, 04:36:56 PM »

Model: GW395LEPS03
Working on this oven that will not light no spark bake or broiler.  Stove top no problem.  No error codes.  Checked polarity.  Gas valve check's 209 (216 +- 30 tech sheet) on both coils at valve.  124V proper for either bake or broil at J1 plug no problem.  Inconsistent voltage to gas valve at J1 plug and valve (should be 8-18VDC within 6 seconds after 40 second reset) found burn spots on DSI near J1 so replaced DSI.  After install had spark no ignition.  I went through the troubleshooting again checked all components again all checked out.  Tried it again and then no spark.  Disconected J1 from board to check continuity and have open line for bake coil at plug and 209 at broil on plug.  I checked continuity between the wire's from valve (disconnected) to plug (disconnected) and good but no continuity between the common and bake at the plug when reconnected.  Do I have a loose wire at the plug?  Can I jumper it to test?  Maybe frayed wire in the harness?  Just need to clean connection?  What am I missing?
It's been one of those weeks...any help would be appreciated

1)  If one coil is "open", neither will get Spark
2) maybe loose connection, or bad "crimp" on BAKE wire (either end

After leaving this Earth, "Do you want the smoking or non-smoking section?"
