MAV7200AWW spin/drain problem
« on: June 05, 2013, 04:10:27 PM »

This one has me scratching my head...

Went out on this washer last Saturday. The customer complaint was that it wasn't draining or spinning. I tried several times with and without clothes in it and couldn't verify the complaint. I advised him to reduce the load size and left. An hour later, he was back on my route with the same issue. I went back and found the washer full of water and the cycle was complete (timer was pointed to off). He said he could hear the motor running and didn't her anything out of the ordinary. The only thing I found was a loose belt. So I replaced that and left.

Yesterday I got a call from him. Says its doing the same thing. Any idea what it could be? Everything checks out fine. Thoughts?

I have changed 6 pumps in this design washer. 4 were the noisy shim problem(hitting pulley) and 2 were impeller separated from the shaft.

These washers can have a problem with the timer not pausing the motor so it can reverse. Of course as repairman we fill it, let it agitate and then manually turn the timer to spin and it works. The first one I ran across took more than one trip to figure it out. I finally caught it buy letting it go through the cycle on its own and noticing it agitated right up until it shut off. Since then I've run across this problem again.
