My Whirlpool Washer
« on: March 11, 2008, 05:01:44 AM »

My washing Machines just started acting up. Sometimes it runs great and other times it don't. It sometimes will overflow water when washing., and sometimes it just wont stop filling up because as it is filling it is draining too. And then other times it will just keep filling up when it is suppose to stop. After my load is done it will make a loud spinning sound. Like the Agitator is ready to fly out of washer. How can this be fixed? My washer is a Whirlpool 1/2 HP Motor- Double action agitator- Model TAWS800JQ1 Series CM2629273 Type 111

Yes! This all started at the same time.

Model Number: TAWS800JQ1 icon

It's probably filling like that because your drain hose is not 38"' from the floor in a standpipe as it should be, or you have it sealed off somehow. If the water siphons away before it can fill the tub, you'll continue to have problems. More on this here.

If you have the drain jerry-rigged because it backs up, then prepare for pump and other damage later on. In fact, you should stock up on those drive couplings that AJ has posted on the right side of this page. You'll need 'em :)

The overfilling is most likely a bad water valve....a common enough failure which can be intermittent. No doubt the valve has been overworked in your case due to siphoning and refilling constantly. Very inexpensive fix all the way around.
