I have a Maytag Neptune Front Load Washer .. Approx. 15 years old.
When the washer starts spinning, the tub bangs the cabinet. The banging gets worse has the spin speed gets faster.
The washer (the way I understand it), when it senses a off-balance load, it supposed to slow down enough to re-balance the load.
When the washer starts banging, it does slow down once, but then goes back to full speed and banging. I am not sure if that one slow down is a normal part of the spin cycle.
I had the unit apart, couldn't see anything obvious wrong. I noticed what appears to a be off balance switches - one on the side of the tub, and also on one of the shocks ... I checked both of those with a multi-meter, and they both seem to be working correctly .. the circut open and closes.
I wondered if one of the shocks is bad ... but don't think so, if one was bad, the off balance switches should still try to balance the wash.
Hoping someone might of heard of this problem and can help !!
