Long or medium?
« on: September 22, 2009, 10:10:29 PM »

OK... after trying to fix one appliance, wife says the washer isn't working right.

The agitator top does not do the swirl/stop motion during wash cycle, it just sits there. Bottom of agitator is doing the 'dance'.

So, it's the top agitator clutch dogs. Pulled it apart, and sure enough, the dog done be worn out.

Now the question. Went to repair clinic, and they have 2 repair kits -- one for "long" and one for "med" length cam. Now I think I'm the long type (wife thinks so too!),  but need a second opinion from the experts.

How does one determine if you need the long or medium dogs? Is there a measurement to take?

Whenever you want parts and are not sure which one you need, simply use your model number to look them up. In this case you need the 285748 LONG cam kit.
Repairclinic shows to be out of them, so just replace the dogs as JW suggested and forget about the cam. The dogs are part # 80040
