Problem originally started last Friday when my wife was drying some clothes the dryer stopped mid cycle. When I came home from work (a few hours later) I pressed the desired setting and then start...all the dryer would do was beep upon pressing the start button. We left for the weekend and on Sunday came home pressed the desired setting and the dryer started up...though the sound coming from the what I assume is the motor sounds like it is struggling to start. Basically a buzzing noise for a second that goes away once the drum starts spinning.
I have tested this my turning the dryer on and off...selecting the desired setting pressing start, once it starts (if it does) then open the door and try again. I get varying degrees of the buzzing noise and sometimes it will not start at all...just a buzz for a few sec., the control panel does dark and then nothing.
I replaced the belt yesterday and the inside of the dryer was kind of dirty (assuming this is very usual)...lint on most things including the motor and about 75 cents in various change (guessing this is my tip for attempting to fix the dryer). So I got the shop vac out and cleaned all the lint off of all the surfaces including the motor. After replacing the belt it worked for about 15 min before it just stopped again, of course after I had everything buttoned back up!
I am assuming this is a motor issue but wanted to get an expert opinion from the group before I went to the local parts store and dropped $100+, to find out this is not what is causing the problem.
Any and all input is greatly appreciated!!!
