Kenmore 90 Series Washer with Spin Cycle issues
« on: February 28, 2009, 02:04:35 PM »

This washer has been good to us, but has recently become uncooperative.  It progresses through each cycle fine until it hits the spin cycle.  If there are any clothes in the tub, it won't spin at all.  There are no peculiar noises or smells and doesn't sound like it's overloaded.  If I give it some help, it will spin, but at a very low speed.  I have checked the coupler and it is fine.  One thing I did notice is gear oil inside the cabinet.  I cleaned the gear oil and reassembled the machine.  After a week, there is a small drop on the floor beneath the machine.  I would greatly appreciate  any suggestions, as I just gave Uncle Sam a significant chunk of change. I am mechanically inclined, however my troubleshooting skills could use some work.

Thanks in advance!

Replacing the clutch is not necessarily a difficult task, but it seems it's time you gave it a try...

Should make it like new again for less than $40.

A small amount of oil is nothing to worry about...
