Well, I replaced the clutch and the coupling. One of the old clutch pads had broken and turned sideways in the housing. Now it spins great. I have one problem, when the spin starts it is loud. Like a Scrapeing and squeecking noise. It sounds like the clutch is just slipping. the directions say "flange installed downward". If i did this then the brake cam driver would not go into the correct position. When the washer gets mobing the noise stops. The clutch came with the blue spring installed and 2 green springs. The directions said that i need to use the blue spring so i did not change it. Do i need to change it? It would be counter productive to put any grease near the clutch pads correct? Please help.

Never any grease!

Perhaps the clutch did not engage properlywith the brake release cam when you re-assembled it. Installing the clutch plate correctly is important as is the lining. The blue spring is the correct one for your sure the lining was seated properly in the clutch plate so as to release the brake when the springs contact the tab.

The lining came assembled already. Should i take it apart and disassemble the lining? I will check for proper engagement of the brake lever. Thanks :)

Thank you to all that helped me with this project :) It is done. The noise was from the lining not seated properly. I took it apart reseated the lining and it works and sounds great. Now my wife is happy, she can do more laundry. Thanks again.
