Maytag Performa Will not agitate all other functions ok
« on: December 31, 2008, 07:17:02 PM »

I have a Performa Washer that will not agitate. Fills and will spin to drain but the agitator never operates. Is this a repair that would be just as cost effective to replace due to its age of about 10yrs? Anyone know what is wrong, what to check and estimated parts/labor cost?

1. When it fills, does the motor ever run as though it were agitating? Or does it sit quietly until the spin cyle?

(p.s....we are not labor estimators, we expect you do  do the labor here)

It makes some noise as if it  is running but no movement.

Replacing the transmission is no piece of cake, so consider a new machine instead. Maytag labor is $200 for tranny replacement, plus parts. This is an example only, since all servicers charge different rates.
