Maytag coin operated dryer model number LDG19CS-03
« on: September 16, 2017, 09:22:25 AM »

I was just give an older model Maytag coin operated gas dryer with the above model number. It is in fairly good condition . It has no keys but the top access cover lock and the coin box lock and the coin mechanism lock were all drilled out without any  damage.  The coin slide is not able to work due to a few parts at the back end being missing.  I want to arrange a push button or lever to make this unit work. I  am putting a new  cord in place since the power cord was cut off at the back of the cabinet. I have taken the unit apart as far as I can and   now Need to look at a schematic to see what I can do to  operate it without a coin slide . Can anyone steer me in the right direction to find a schematic diagram for this unit or suggest a fairly easy  way to make it operate  ?
THanks

I was able to get this dryer going and it works and heats well but right now I am running it thru a cycle which I have no idea what the time will be . These coin operated dryers usually run a cycle based on the initial setting and the amount of money added. Since this uni now has no coin slot I need to know if someone can tell me about a way to change the cycle setting.

By running the dryer using the initial setting of the timer wheel I was able to get it to run a typical cycle time of 52 minutes. After it shuts off it will not immediately restart for another cycle by pushing the button on the top panel. It can restart  another cycle however,  by opening the top inspection door and pushing  the timer  wheel in until it releases a spring loaded cam arrangement. It will then be able to start another 52 minute cycle with no problem. This is a fairly easy solution  and takes about 10 seconds . If anyone can suggest an alternate method I would appreciate the info.

You need to supply power to the timer motor just long enough for it to rotate the cam to the first segment that will put power to the timer motor. Look at the wiring diagram and see which wire to the timer motor is switched through the contacts and wire in a momentary switch that you can access from the outside of the control housing. you should be able to start the machine by depressing the switch foe a couple of seconds.

I was not able to find a schematic inside the top console and wondered if you can point me in the right direction to find it for this model.

Does anyone have a schematic or wiring diagram for this type of coin operated dryer ? It already has a momentary start switch on the panel that works fine until the cycle comes to the end of the 52 minute cycle. At that time I lift up the top access cover and push the timer wheel in to release the ratchet wheel. It will then start the timing cycle over and it will then run another 52 minutes by pushing the start button on the panel.  I was hoping to find a way to merely push another switch I would install to continue the heat cycle.

I drop the L off the model number and the -03 and came up with this old Maytag Manual.Look at page 12-22 and see if it helps.   Model DG19CS            https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-i5KqMA2RZwSVI5UHM0cjBlaVk/view?usp=sharing
