Fridgidaire wall oven shuts off in clean mode
« on: September 11, 2017, 10:14:23 PM »

Hello,
RE: Model Number: FEB27S6DBB   Brand: Frigidaire   Age: 5 - 10 years old

My wife observed that when she places the oven in cleaning mode that it spontaneously shuts itself off after about 30 seconds. Our Frigidaire wall oven otherwise seems to work just fine except for when she tries to start the cleaning mode.
I am hoping that this may be a bad sensor or something a do-it-yourselfer might be able to do?

Any suggestions as to what the high probability cause(s) might be?

Many Thanks!!!!!

When you say "Shuts off", does the display go back to normal time-of-day or does the display go blank? Also, are there any error codes? (F-1, F-3 or F-9) Does the door lock?

It displays normal time once the cleaning mode fails, and no error codes appear on the display.

Here is the sequence:
1. Press cleaning mode (a, b, c can then be observed):
a  Two dashes appear on the display (we think this is normal)
      b. The LED by the touch-button we just pressed for clean starts to blink (we think this is normal)
      c. you can hear that the oven has turned on and beginning to go to cleaning mode
2. About 20 seconds go by and you here it click off (display goes back to normal time and no codes appear)
3. The letters CL never appear on the display like they normally would in cleaning mode and it never gets to the stage where the door locks.

Otherwise it seems OK (daughter used it to bake a pizza yesterday and had no trouble). Thanks again for your thoughts on this.

Sounds like the unit is not locking like it should and it has a switch to make sure door is locked. Try turning off the circuit breaker for a minute or so and then turning it back on. The computer will cycle the lock in most cases. You could do this with someone standing at unit wth door open and holding in the door switch so you can observe what happens...be warned that you may end up with door lock partly engaged and not be able to close the oven door if there is a problem with the latch motor. Anyway...sometimes this will reset the latch.

You could have a problem with the latch motor, latch position switches or main board.

I think you are missing a step there. After you press the "Clean" pad, the next step is to push The "up" arrow button to select a default clean time of 3 hours. If you don't do that, the cycle will terminate.
