Washer fill hoses
« on: April 19, 2017, 09:31:56 AM »

Do fill hoses come any shorter than 5'? From my washer connections to water source is less than 2' and the shortest hoses I can find are 4'. Also, are  stainless hoses that much better than the rubber hoses? In the past I tried to replace the hoses every couple years but my new house has a laundry closet rather than a laundry room and its a b*tch working on the things.

and it's always nice to be able to pull the washer out and get behind it without disconnecting hoses. Frankly the house valves corrode and start to leak, washers inside the hoses degrade and if you need to disconnect them you will need new washers as well.
Get the 5' lines and your service man will thank you when the washer will need service  O0

I had a call for leaking fridge a few weeks ago. The rat took off across the kitchen and under the dishwasher when I pulled out the fridge. It chewed through the stainless braided supply line.

So rubber or nylon would be better?

I don't use anything but stainless because that is simply the best.  I can't stop a rat from chewing through it, though I would guess it is rare.  I bet mice don't do too well.

I have seen too many leaks from the plastic tubing to ever use that.  I have also seen where rubber hoses crack and split from age, rub through via vibration, or melt.

I'm happy to argue my case in court that, whatever might have happened, I used the best available.

But, yeah, nothin's perfect.
