LG French Door Refrigerator-Ice Clumping
« on: March 20, 2017, 12:28:37 PM »

French door LG Kenmore 795.71073012 with icemaker and bucket in the door. The ice clumps together and won't dispense. I put a temperature logger in the ice compartment. The temperature does intermittently spike over 32 degrees. There is no pattern to the spiking. At one point it stayed over 32 degrees for 3 hours. The customer is sure the door is not being left open. Any ideas?

I'm going to assume it is a french door. **on my phone atm**Pour water in the ice shoot. Does it leak right out?

I did shine a flashlight up the chute and didn't see the light. So if water leaks out, new flapper I assume?

yes but also check the door itself for a burr in the plastic causing some warm air to get in, only other thing that can cause the issue is if ice builds up on the freezer rear grill stopping the ice room fan from time to time.
Open the freezer door and look in the upper left hand side and see if there is any ice build up.
I have NEVER seen the ice room thermistor go bad. Highly unlikely that would be an issue

The customer confirmed that the ice door occasionally sticks open. So, new door, ABN72938902. Anything else I should bring?  I haven't had one these apart yet. Thanks.

I would do the motor as well. EAU59551201
Also, lot's of patience.
Tape off around the dispenser and slowly pry it out. WARN the owner that it may break (so you are not on the hook to cover a new dispenser).
