Samsung RS2630WW Fan Noise
« on: October 04, 2008, 05:11:53 PM »

I purchased this refrigerator from Best Buy for $1200 dollars. My old $800 refrigerator never had problems like this.

The fan (I am assuming "evaporator fan", see the pictures below) is making a very weird noise.

I assumed that this noise was caused by the fins of the fan clipping the plastic housing.
I have tried cutting a lot off of the fan fins to prevent this, but the noise still occurs.
It does not occur the entire time. Sometimes it occurs in short bursts, other time it just keeps going.
The entire build of this refrigerator is cheap. The plastic is very bendable and the fan is not securely on the "axle".

Any help/suggestions would be very helpful!

Model RS2630WW

Thank you,
Brandon

One way to solve would be to take the blade to an appliance parts store and buy a new motor and blade that size. Let me just take a wild guess here and say a 2 watt motor with blade would probably be less than 30 bucks but would it fit that design?

Actually, Samsung and Maytag both had so much trouble with the white plastic motors that that went back to a conventional motor that is much more durable.  Type your model number into the 3rd parts lookup on the left column for all related parts.

Condenser Fan Motor Part # DA97-01949A

Blade Part # DA31-00010D

I had the same problem.
I opened the back panel, and I see that now the fan has stopped spinning completely.
How do I remove the condenser fan?
Please help!
Don

... The fan (I am assuming "evaporator fan",

1) Condenser Fan
2) not a good idea, Fan Blade won't be balanced
3) not good, that's the cause, Fan Blade must be replaced

Hey guys, just learning and reading about this problem to save big bucks!
I have the parts down from what you posted, yesterday looking at the fridge seems like the fan enclosure is attached to the bottom plastic support. I was not able to see any screws, does it just pops in and out?

I'll order the parts but if you can give me a trick or two to change it, will be appreciated.

And yes, I'm ordering from AppliancePartsPros.com

Thanks in advance!

I don't recall working on one exactly like this one, but it may just snap in place.
Once you get the new part in your hand you maybe able to see how it held in there too.

Maybe another tech will have some advice for us.

Let us know how the repair goes for you.

it looks like there is a line from the condenser in the way, but I just pull a little and was enough to let lose the fan assemply.
Note to self, always order the fan, since the factory blade is hard to unglue! :)

happy camper!

thanks for your help!
