LG dishwasher leaking problem LDS4821ST
« on: December 20, 2011, 05:41:30 AM »

I had a call for an LG dishwasher that won't wash properly.  Ran the unit and I could hear the sump motor running but was very low on water.  I thought that the water valve was not letting in water fast enough so I pulled the sprayer hose from the faucet to add more water.  Funny thing was the water never filled up.  It somehow just stayed very low no matter how much water I put into it.  So I start to pull the dishwasher out thinking that a drain line had ruptured.  Everything looked fine but the subfloor was soaking wet so I pulled out the bottom cover to look inside.  YUK!!  Found rodent feces all over the bottom plate.  As I'm looking inside for an eaten out rubber or plastic hose, I couldn't find anything leaking.  So I set the dishwasher right side up, turned on the unit to run and see where the leak was at.  As soon as the water starting filling, water leaking out the back side of the sump assembly so I hurriedly turned off the unit and laid it on it's back.  I found that sump plastic casing had been eaten away by a very hungry rodent.

I love it when a customer complains that LG is nothing but crap and I prove them differently.  The house was an older house and it was well kept.  I charged the customer $380.00 to replace the sump assembly.

Take a look at the pictures and enjoy.
