Samsung Icemaker fill help
« on: December 04, 2014, 07:29:12 PM »

I have a customer with a Samsung fridge, RSG257AARS.
she said it wasnt making ice very often.

I pressed the reset button and it cycled and filled the first three cube spots.  I thought the icemaker controlled the fill, so I put in a new icemaker I had with me.

Same result.  Cycles and fills on the first three of seven cube slots.

Do I need a new board, or is there a way to adjust the amount of water that goes in?

The filter seemed ok, the flow through the door is strong and the flow to the icemaker seemed good.

Thanks for any help.

Looked on the drive, could not find the manual for this model.  It is the one with the icemaker in the door.

Listen, NOONE from samsung could help me on this issue so take this for what it is worth. EVERY samsung sxs with the heat release IM only lets the first few cubes fill INITIALLY. It SHOULD slowly add water in short spurts like that UNTIL the water reaches the thermister at the end of the mold, then stop. Someone prove me otherwise, I changed pcbs, IMs, whatever tech line said. WRONG :welcome: :welcome:

Sheesh, so maybe it was the icemaker. I took the new one out and put her old one back in. Maybe I will go put the new one back in and give it 24 hours and see what it does.
Thanks for the info.

You may want to check water pressure coming from the back into the refrigerator. I ran across some people using the taping needle valve onto galvanized pipe. As time goes by, the mineral from the water and rust from the pipe will plugged up the hole causing very weak water pressure.

Yeah, flow was good. Good filter, good connection behind fridge. Now they are not sure if they want to spend the money...
