Samsung DW80F600UTS, drain code on
« on: December 02, 2014, 05:43:29 PM »

The dishwasher seems to work ok, but the "delicate" light blinks when the cycle appears to be done, indicating a drain error.  I pulled the d/w out and checked the drain line, found no kinks, leaks, etc.
What can you tell me about the low water level sensor?  How can I check to see if it is working properly?
Or, do you have another idea of what is causing the drain code to light up?

If it IS DRAINING but the delicate light indicates it did not, dirty ECS sensor. If it IS NOT draining, must find why O0

Re: Samsung DW80F600UTS, drain code on, (I cleaned the dirty sensor.)

Thank you for your generous help.
I removed the ECS sensor and cleaned off what looked like a little tiny bit of some residue of mashed potatoes.  I also removed the other black plastic sensor next to it and cleaned it too.  So, this brings up 2 more questions.
First, should we be sure that all plates, etc. are completely rinsed off before going into the dishwasher, to avoid this in the future?   Second, do you think that I need to take the inside bottom sump section apart, and clean that too?  There was barely anything inside where the sensors are at.
Your help was greatly appreciated.    :thanks:

Ah, see what works best for you in the future. the enzymes NEED proteins/foods to keep from etching, but can gunk up the sensor. NEW sammy dishwashers got rid the ECS sensor.

sounds like the same problem I am having.

How would I go about locating the ECS sensor and cleaning it?  The delicate light flashes on mine at the end of the cycle also.  Is this process easy to complete?  Thank you for your help!

Very easy, disassemble the sump from inside and find the white colored sensor. Clean and all set

Actually, I removed the dishwasher from the cabinet, layed it on it's left side, and removed the  plastic cover on the bottom.  The sensor was there.  You cannot get to it from inside.  I cleaned it and reinstalled it.  Then I reinstalled the DW,  and it worked fine.

@ domain - how do you access the ECS sensor in the Samsung DW80F600 series? I think i need to clean mine out and you seem to know wher it is. I can't find technical manuals for this unit.

Thanks,
-K

@domain - thanks for the tip. I did that - took out the entire assembly and cleaned it out. There was nothing too dramatic. Maybe some hair jamming the round pulley thing. In any case - reassembled and tried it out. This time the error message after about 5 min of running was simultaneous flashing "Smart Mode" and "Heavy" which according to the manual is:

Over-level water error
Functional error. Close the water supply valve and go to your house circuit breaker panel, set the dishwasher’s circuit breaker switch to off, and then contact an authorized Samsung service center.

After switching it off and trying again a few minutes later, the same "Delicate" error comes up after about 5 minutes of running. During the 5 minutes, i can hear some water draining. The soap dispenser does not open. And when I open the door it's hot and steamy inside. This doesn't sound like a drain problem. It sounds like a computer problem?

Suggestions?

-K

You must scrub the ecs sensor under a small another cover until it is appellee
spotless and white!

@domain - it worked. Although that sensor wasn't even THAT dirty. Seemed like pretty normal buildup of gunk but probably a design flaw that I'll probably have to do this once a year to keep the thing running. Thanks so much for your advice which saved time and money.

@rodder98 - saw your posts as well. Thanks for sharing.

Can someone please show me exactly what the sensor looks like and where it is either a picture or a manual?
 :thanks:

Any chance you would walk me through this?  I took out all screws, removed the sprayer, removed the big plastic round thing with screen, took screw out of white plastic round thing, took that and the bigger plastic piece under it out.  Did not see a white ecs sensor.  :thanks:
