RB215LASH fridge not getting cold enough
« on: July 12, 2014, 12:54:43 PM »

last weekend picked up a Samsung RB215LASH bottom mount freezer, fridge. Waited till next day to plug in, everything looked normal to me on the outside and freezer was making ice. On Wednesday got a beer out fridge and it was cool not cold even though fridge showed 34 degrees. dug out some house thermostats and placed in fridge, since the house has smart ones now. top shelf was 54, bottom shelf 45. The reason they were selling fridge because it would freeze things. On Thursday when fridge was set at 34 top shelf would equal 51 bottom shelf 45 and drawer was 43, set fridge to 36 and readings were 52,46 &43, set to 38 readings 51, 46 & 43, set to 40 readings 52, 46, 43 last i tried 42 and readings were 54, 46 and 43. Friday morning unplugged fridge for 3 hours, when plugged back in freezer back at normal operation within 2 hours, Fridge temp displayed matched my thermostat that i had placed next to blue orb at 54. i held door switch closed and lit a bic lighter to see if blower was working I could feel the motor turning and hear it but the flame on lighter hardly moved, had a left over punk from the 4th and lit that the smoke hardly moved, I don't know how much air is to be flowing on this fridge. I checked the blower on freezer and you could feel it blow when it turned on. This morning when i readjusted the temp on fridge, i watched the display go down to the set temp 34 then return to the ambient temp in fridge of 53 today. super cool button seems to have no effect on fridge side. Told previous owner if i cant get fridge below 40 i was going to bring it back to them. Any easy fixes on this?

It sounds like it's plugged up with ice.  Try to remove the back panel. If you won't come off, turn off the fridge for a few days and try again.  Clear the defrost drain with hot water.  Hang a few inches of copper wire off of defrost heater, down into the defrost drain.
