Kenmore Mini Fridge Compressors Stopped...
« on: March 29, 2014, 02:34:56 PM »

First off, hello everyone.  I am new here and chose to post because of how helpful everybody seems to be.

I bought these two new s&d mini fridges at an auction stupidly thinking they would probably work.  Well...they did.  However in each case, once cold, the compressor shut off.  Since then, I cannot get either mini fridge compressor to turn on.

I am new to refrigerator repair, but am usually very handy, and was hoping this was a known issue that there is a fix for.

The models are:
Kenmore 4.6 cu ft Beverage Center (model number 99283)
Kenmore 3.1 cu ft 2 door SS Fridge/Freezer (model number HD-113F)

For each, the power is still on (lights light up and, for the beverage cooler, internal thermostat display works)

Both have a dent on the top rear corner, however they don't appear bad enough for the refrigerant to have leaked.  Why else would the compressor just turn off?  Starter issue?

Thanks!
-C

Check for voltage at the compressor.  If no voltage, you probably have a bad cold control on the mini-fridge and a bad control board on the beverage cooler.  You can look up parts for the cooler on Sears by adding a 255 to the front of the model number, 255.99283.  I've had no luck finding parts for the mini-fridge.  Most of the time there are no parts available but sometimes you can substitute a generic part. If you have voltage it could be the compressor relay, overload or the compressor. I hope you didn't pay too much for them.
