upright freezer trouble
« on: February 16, 2014, 10:31:44 PM »

I have a Frigidaire upright freezer. It's a model#LFFH17F7HWH.  It will get cold and after awhile it will shut off and not come back on but the fan will be running even though it's not cooling.  I think it cools for a couple of days before it shuts off.  I unplugged it once when it shut off  and plugged it back in and it came back on.  When I was trying to figure out how to set the temperature at the control panel on the front of the door, it went off again and flashed FF continuously.  I unplugged it again and plugged it in again but it would not come back on.  My guess is that it's going to come down to the control board being bad because the fan works.  I replaced the defrost heater, and I know it works and since when it does come on, it cools to 10 or lower, that indicates the compressor is working.  Here's what I'd like someone to tell me:   How do I test the electronic control board?   It seems that whatever constitutes the defrost timer in the control board is bad (it's as though it hits the defrost cycle, shuts the compressor down, but then doesn't come back on). Does this sound reasonable? Can you tell me how to test the control board? And of course, I would need the specs for the control board.  Where can I get the instructions for setting the control board and understanding the codes? Also, I have one curious question: Why isn't there a cooling fan for the compressor?        Thanks Pat Daddy

If you buy the part from them and it does not work you can return it.
