Lg LFX25971ST water valve always on
« on: August 14, 2013, 08:32:58 PM »

So I posted the other day about this LG model and determined that the water valve in the door was bad.  the valve was bad.  I returned today with the new valve and the water valve solenoid stays on.  There is 110 volts constantly going to the water valve in the door.  I suppose thats why it burnt out.

The valve in the back that goes to the filter is not energized.

If I push the water lever, then the rear filter valve is energized and water comes out.

If the lever is released, the power stays on at the water valve in the door, but not the filter valve in the back.

My assumption is that a relay on the main board is stuck, sending constant power to the valve in the door.

Any help is once again appreciated.

I got this fixed.  There is a PCB board (LG 6871JB2061C) in the dispenser part of the fridge that has a relay on it.  This relay was stuck causing constant voltage to go to the water valve in the door.
Thats what burnt out the valve in the first place.

To remove the dispenser panel, I used a putty knife on the right hand side and got the top corner popped out.  Once that was loose, it was fairly easy to remove the rest of the panel.  Once the panel was removed and disconnected it was easy to put the new board in.

Thanks Domain for your assistance in this.
