I have a 2 1/2 year old top loading Cabrio washer that is making such a noise during the spin cycle. It started off not too bad, loud and noticible - thought maybe the loads weren't full enough. Well the other day it made such a racket, my husband who's hearing isn't the best from jetskiing and motocross riding even heard it over the TV! So after reading the other posts and finding out online that this washer has had major problems is it worth it to fix it? No, I don't have a pile of money laying around, I just need to make sure I am not throwing good money after bad.
I called one local repairman today and he basically said it's junk and not to waste my time getting it fixed. I called Whirlpool and they of course said it's warranty is only one year... They did say there was a "Repair and one" type of warranty which would cover this repair and a year of warranty service. The lady said they could not come out because of a "noise" had to be a defiinite problem and I should just use it and if it dies then call them to set this up. She would not give me a price.
I know the cost of the bearing and bearing tool is about $150 but how difficult is this to change? My husband is fairly handy but not sure if it's too much of an undertaking. In looking at the website some of you guys say after you do a few it's not that bad - any live in south orange county ca?
What do you recommend? I called one repair place and they said for $129 would cover the trip charge, diagnostic and labor. But the million dollar question is how much they will charge me for the part. I guess if I happened to have the part here...
Any insight would be helpful.
