This is an odd question, but I'm looking to replace a temp switch on my White-Westinghouse dryer. When I search for the part, it comes up with a new OEM replacement part with a different part number. That new part number replaces a bunch of switches used in a dryers by a large number of manufacturers. I'll try to make my question clear... I know that I could use a switch with the original matching part number OR the new universal OEM replacement part BUT if I found an old switch from a different brand of dryer that also had their switch replaced by the same OEM part, would it work?
To put it another way... assume my switch is part #10 and it fits in my Westinghouse, and there is a switch with part #20 that is normally found in a Maytag machine. Assume both part #10 and part#20 are now replaced by a Frigidaire part #100. Does that mean if I happened to find a part #20 I could stick it into my Westinghouse?
Thanks in advance!
