Title: Whirlpool Gold icemaker not working
Post by: Mark L on January 29, 2012, 08:47:55 PM
I have replaced the optics boards, the control module, and tested the tray thermostat for continuity.  My icemaker fills with water, freezes, but gets stuck there.  When I jump the T and H holes, nothing happens.  Does anyone know what I am missing?

Being you have already replaced the optic boards, part # AP3137510 (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=omv7WULuxaw&subid=0&offerid=225193.1&type=10&tmpid=2111&RD_PARM0=http%253A%252F%252Fwww.appliancepartspros.com%252FAppliance-Parts%252Fwhirlpool-refrigerator-p-c--board-kit-item-number-ap3137510.aspx&RD_PARM1=http&RD_PARM2=%253A%252F%252Fwww.appliancepartspros&RD_PARM3=.com%252FAppliance-Parts%252Fwhirlpool-refrigerator-p-c--board-kit-item-number-ap3137510.aspx) and it fills with water I would go ahead and replace the ice maker.

Here is the ice maker for your model refrigerator.

I have already replaced the control module on the icemaker.  The only thing I didn't replace was the tray.  Could it be anything else?

This is exactly why I don't try and rebuild ice makers. ;)
If the ice maker is getting voltage and water I pop a new one in and move on down the road. :)

To cycle this icemaker using T and H you have to tape the door flap closed, jump T and H,close the door, unplug the refrigerator,re-plug the refrigerator and let the icemaker cycle.

I agree with W/P Change the ice maker because it sounds like a harvest issue with tray heater or sensor. the only way I know to test it I think jump trout explained it best. There is a special tester for the module I think it's made by orion tecnology. Anyone heard of this tester or know where to find them? Kinda tired of meter and jumper wires testing these. this tester plugs into the motor module and will test the circuit and allow to test harvest.
