Title: GE monogram fresh food warm
Post by: amos1 on August 06, 2013, 09:11:55 AM
This is an on going problem that I have not been able to solve. The model number is ziss48ncass the freezer is 0 but the fresh food varies from 40 at night to 60 during the day. I have replaced the damper and the defrost timer so far. I have run out of options any suggestions. Is there a service manual on this frig.
Thanks

There are two damper doors behind the lower crispers. One opens when the quick chill drawer needs cold air. The other may be for return air.I had a problem with the fresh food side getting to cold. One of the doors was stuck open. Maybe one of yours is stuck shut.

Thanks for the info but this frig is all mechanical no electronics. Although I did have an issue with the lower damper door the servo was bad.. This one is a real pain so far.

The parts breakdown shows a motherboard by the compressor.

Went back to test the light switch and it is good, I did find the door seal at the bottom left corner was pushed over to the point it had a 1/2 wide by 1.5 inch opening into the frig letting warm air in. I fixed it and customer called the next day saying the frig still will not drop below 40 at night and 50 during the day.
Any more suggestions??

Since the freezer temp is 0, then it has to be the airflow.Make sure there is no reason the fan isn't moving air. Make sure air is entering and leaving the fresh food side.Check each thing carefully and eliminate it, then concentrate on the next.Somewhere something is restricting the air flow. Good luck.

UPDATE:
I ended up replacing the compressor, defrost pan heater assembly, and the evap fan blade, the tips were gone from rubbing on a wire for several years. The frig temp this morning was at 40 I am still at a loss on the warm frig temps.
The f-f damper assembly was replaced. Freezer appears to be fine at this time and making ice. I cleaned and checked the frig door seal all is good.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Does anyone have or know the low side pressure for this refrigerator?
I replaced the compressor aweek ago and did a recheck saw that the process line would frost up then is would disappear, that doesn't seem right to me. The low pressure was at 9lbs, if I add more Freon the compressor began to chatter when it got to 11lbs never heard that noise before.
 Thanks

It sounds like it's overcharged.  Did you weigh in the charge? 134a should be about 0 to 1 psi low side pressure.

I did but not knowing for sure on the actual pressures I added more Freon, I did bring the pressure back down to 7lbs but if the pressure should be 0 to 1 lb I will remove more.
Thanks
