Kitchenaide dryer KGYE650VAL0 is not igniting / heating

I turned the dryer on and after 15 minutes checked it. It was cold inside. I also noticed the timer had not advanced at all.
This is all I know. Where do I go from here to diagnose it?

Hi,

I would look to see if the ignitor comes on or not. There is often a small hole in the front of the dryer towards the bottom that you can look through to see if the ignitor glows or not.

If you can see the glow of the ignitor then a common problem would be bad coils on the gas valve.

If you can't see the ignitor come on them the ignitor could be bad or the thermal fuse maybe bad.

Take a look and let us know if you can see the ignitor glowing or not when it's should be heating.

I don't see anything at all.
It appears that the front panel under the door MAY come off. Will it? Can you point me to an exploded view?
I'll pull it out from the wall tomorrow and try to get a better look around and at least get familiar with it.

Tried to look up the diagram and only found this.

A lot of dryer repairs can be done from the front of the dryer.

If it looks like a panel below the door it probably is and would just be held in place with some clips.

Is this a older dryer? Could you post a photo of it?

According to them my dryer (model KGYE650VAL0) was made either in 1979 or 1989. I choose to think it was 1989 as our house is a 1984 model.
As I am writing this I am also browsing and I just found the owners manual and parts list with exploded view.

The copyright on  the manaul is 1988 and 1989.

Ok, looked at the parts diagram.
That panel below the door will come off so you can run the dryer and watch the ignitor to see if it comes on or not.

Take a flashlight and look between the top of the panel and the bottom of the door for a clip in each corner.
Push the clips in with a flat blade screwdriver to release them.

Looking at the parts diagram the release clips maybe on the bottom of the access panel too. You will just have to look around the panel to find them.

Replace both solenoids if the ignitor and flame sensor are working.
