Samsung RF267AERS Self Defrost

Hi,

Can someone help me figure out how to enter the manual defrost mode on a Samsung french door fridge model#RF267AERS? The self diagnostic mode indicates that the self defrost sensor is broken, but I am trying to figure out how to defrost it first so I can disassemble it in order to change the sensor. I would rather avoid turning it off if possible so that the freezer compartment continues working.

Hi Nick: I don't have the Tech manual for this but the user manual does'nt show a manual de-frost function for this Fridge / Freezer.

If the model number is RF267AERS/XAA, do this.

Press the Energy Saver button and the Fridge/Power Cool button at the same time for 8 - 12 seconds.  Once the display changes to FF 1, you are now in forced freeze mode high speed.  Press the Power Freeze button once and it will go to FF 2 forced mid speed run.  Press the Power Freeze button again and it goes to FF 3 forced low speed run.  Press the Power Freeze button again and it will go into Force Defrost.  Forced defrost will not work if the bi metal sensor is bad.  You will have to use a steamer or hair dryer to clear out the ice.

OK mate, thanks. I'm not a Samsung Authorised tech so would'nt have found it. Wonder why they never thought to put the manual de-frost sequence in the user manual.
