freezer not freezing - crosley CT19G6B

HELP!!! Im pretty handy, but the pressure is on by my bride I have a crosley fridge/freezer problem. The freezer fan is running, but not freezing. The coils behind the panel in the freezer are not cold. The compressor down below is hot. I hear occasional clicking and can hear a change in the lower fan (like a amperage draw). Im not a appliance guy, but my family is counting on me. Thats why I turn to you pros......... Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Hi,

What you hear clicking is probably the start relay on the side of the compressor.

There is a good chance all you need is a new start relay.

Before I ordered a replacement relay I would ohm the compressor out with a multimeter to make sure it's not shorted out to ground.

I Pulled the relay off the side of the compressor prior to seeing your reply, it sounds like its full of small rocks when you shake it and little bits of shavings came out! When you tell me to ohm it out, you mean each one of the three pins under the relay to the chassis of the fridge correct?

That's a sure sign that it's bad.

Correct, check each pin to ground to make sure you don't have any continuity to ground.

A faulty start relay is a very common problem.

I looked up the model number of your refrigerator and posted the factory part number for you.
You can research it yourself using your model number too, but the part number I posted should be correct.

The replacement relays often look different then the original ones.
