FRIDGE FREEZER NOT COOLING

I have another problem. It started when I tried to turm off the fridge when leaving for vacation. I used the dials inside the fridge and when I tried to turm this up again the fridge stoped reacting. It was running for 1.5 hours non stop. I had to live and when I came back from vacation it did not start at all. The light inside is on however motor does not start. What can be wrong, do I need a new fridge?

jump the control thermostat & see if it will run then, may need to be replaced.
