Dead Whirlpool Duet Dryer GEW9200LW1

The dryer would not start on any cycle, the one time I hit the start button it made a crunching, clicking sound and then I smelled something burning. I took the top off and found the control board burnt. Do I just replace the control board or could the dryer have other problems too?

Have you had any power surges at the house recently?

I can't think of anything else off hand that would make that control board burn up. I have replaced control boards in these types of dryers before were I can see damage to the board and I simply replace the board.
