Ice maker melted

I could not find a model number on the ice maker. The model number of the refrigerator is ksrd22fkst17 and it's a kitchen aid.
It appeared that the ice maker caught fire and had melted the front dial and left burn marks on the top of the freezer.

The refrigerator still works, but has a horrible burnt plastic smell. Anyone know why this happened and how I can get read of the smell?

People used to bring ice makers to my shop to test them. On occasion I would see em smoke and burn. The probe behind the main drive wheel shorts out and mainly cause overfill. Instead of 7 seconds you get 20 seconds of water. Never seen one catch on fire though.
