Maytag MVWX500XL0 water leaking from front left corner

Hi.  Can anyone offer any advice on what might be contributing to a water leak that seems to be somehow related to the NORMAL wash cycle?  After a wash cycle I find a puddle of water on the floor by the front left foot of the washer... (facing machine by my left foot).  Its not a big leak say about 6-8 inches in diameter.  Everything seems to work ok otherwise.

The hoses on the back show no moisture and neither does the drain hose - so it must be internal somewhere.  The loads being washed are small to medium.

If someone can explain how the washer top lifts up maybe I could investigate further?  I know these things lift up and some models have some sort of retaining clips that need to be released... but any specific guidance on how to do it on this model would be helpful. 

This machine has been just installed.. (yes I know its a year old Mfr aug 2010 - it just got freed from the back of the warehouse.)

Vertical Modular washer service manual

I have an older one out back. To lift the top I removed the back splash the control and then the top slides forward about a half inch. Then lift up. Note if you go to far it catches on a slot in the top and won't lift. Tricky indeed.
