Maytag Washer not using Fabric Softener

Our 5yr old Maytag Neptune washer (FAV6800AWW) has recently stopped using fabric softener.

Is there a common part that goes bad when this happens?

Slowly add water to the dispenser.  After it reaches a certain level, the water should siphon out.  If it doesn't, you need to clean the dispenser.  Pull the cap off and clean out the gunk.  If it's not getting water to the dispenser during the rinse cycle, you probably need a dispenser valve, 25001043.
