cold cabin refridgerator

Hi...I've been told that there is a tech at this site who would know about kits for frigidaire refridgerators that will allow them to run properly at colder exterior temps. I have a cabin that is not heated when I'm not there and temps dip into the fourties occasionally. Also, is it only frigidaire that has these kits? Thanks for any help.

Well, the problem with all residential refrigerators is when they are located in ambient temps that are like below freezing or above 90 degrees.  I would not believe you would have to worry about temps that might get to around 40 degrees or so now and then....

well i don't know if i am said tech, but i am a friggy tech that knows of the kit

There is a kit for refrigerators installed in applications where the temperature can go as low
as 34 F and still maintain good freezer temperatures. The kit part number is 5303918301
and it contains a heater that mounts in the control box and an instruction sheet advising
how to install the heater.

Thanks for the help guys. As it turns out, I spoke with a trouble shooter at Frigidaire about the part Mr, Burnt Toast spoke of and its called a garage kit. It will fit many models of refrigerators as long as they are top freezer with manual temp dials. This has helped tremendously as I have lugged my new fridge by rowboat out to an Island and was not looking forward to returning it.
