Washing Machine Loud Noise
« on: March 27, 2012, 09:44:22 AM »
I have an Alliance/Speed Queen top loader washing machine model SWT220WN thats about 5 years old. The other day its started making a load whining and squeeling sound when its running, whether agitating or not.    At first I thought it was the motor or transmission or belt but it feels more like its coming from the drain pump. The sound changes frequency when in different modes (delicate/normal/ final rinse etc). It also makes the noise whether full of clothes or not and the machine drains fine. Is that somewhat common thing to make noise like that when it goes?? Thanks!

Unclip the pump and run the washer without it being attached to the motor.  If the noise stops, you know it's the pump.  Check inside the pump, it may have a bra wire or something stuck in it.

Please help, washing machine makes loud buzzing sound and stops
