Bought this for $35 bucks. They said it shook real bad. Took the back off and I saw dried  rusty water drippings sprayed from the center of the tub. Looks like I will need new bearings and a seal. My question is: would the sprayed water from the seal failure damage the stator on the motor assembly, or short something out?  Is this an easy job? Parts cost about $80 total so its not to bad just wondering if its worth the trouble? Thanks!

I think the rotor would have to be changed if the magnets made any kind of contact with the stator.  The stator should be ok.  I've never been able to repair one to find out because the customer just went and bought a replacement washer.  You would also need to change the drum assembly because the spider shaft is probably corroded as well.  When you take apart the tub, inspect the the plastic tub for any signs of damage.  It's possible that the rotating drum may have damaged the plastic drum.  If so, I would seriously recommend replacement of the tub and drum assembly together.  The job is not that hard for one person to do.  Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. I will inspect all of this when I take it apart, but I am not going to dump all that money into it. The drum has a little play in the front. Other than that its not rubbing or real sloppy. I don't think there would be any damage to the magnets either but I will be sure to check it out. Thanks!
