Top Rack not cleaning. Kichenaid
« on: April 12, 2012, 04:01:37 PM »
Kichenaid KUDI01ILBS3.

The bottom seems to be working perfectly.  The top rack looks wet, but not clean.  The spinner spins good.  The tube feed seems to be free of any clogs.

About two months ago technician came because the dishwasher was making crushing/loud noise.  He found a piece of glass-looked like it been there a long time (prior to us buying the house, since I did not recognize or recall breaking a glass).

Any tips on what easy things I could do prior to calling tech?

I would check the chopper screen to see if it's plugged up. If it's plugged up you can clean it and try it again, but I would replace the chopper assembly if I found it plugged in my dishwasher.

It's part #6 in this diagram and you can get to it by removed the top cover of the pump from inside the dishwasher.

Here is the chopper assembly for your model dishwasher if you have to order it.

Thank you. I will post after I get part & try replacing the chopper. I do try to use those little pills that clean the dishwasher (you run through cycle empty).  I did for the 1st time try the blue liquid.  My paranoid self was thinking the blue stuff somehow screwed things up.  But the chopper assembly makes more sense. :D

Thank you.

OK, so I got my part, I took off the spinner, and it seems I need a different tool to take off those screws keeping that cover on.  Does it have a particular name and can I get them a t a plumbing supply or HomeDepot/Lowes?  I will try Lowes today, but will check my email before approaching guy/gal in store for help!

Yes, torx bits. Any hardware store should have them.

If the chopper is clog. I also change the check valve part #8268375.Then i give the customer a box of Glisten Dishwasher cleaner and tell them to put it in the soap cup and close and run dishwasher empty. Now its hard to find around here unless i buy it from my parts place. Now i tell them they can buy lemi- shine at walmart and to use it in soap cup.I like Glisten better.Seems to be a better cleaner. Also advise to run dishwasher twice with GlistenDishwasher cleaner or Lemi-Shine.And to use at let once a month.

Thank you so much.  Hubby says he does have Torx bit, so I'll hold on ordering that.  I did order the check valve, so as soon as that comes in, I'll update post. :D

I did use one of those walmart dishwasher magic.  I'll buy another and use it after I do the replacement of valve & chopper.  Off to map myself!
