LG washer OE error code
« on: March 25, 2012, 05:25:16 PM »
Hello,
I have a LG front load washing machine model WM2032HW that is getting a "OE" error code.
There is still water in the tube when the code registers. With a water frequency around 235.
I have cleaned the door casket, removed the pumps and made sure nothing was in the drain basket or wrapped around the impeller.
The washer will drain if run empty but it has any load in it at all we get the "OE" error code.
Most times we can work around it but running a rinse and spin only cycle.
Although I still feel the clothes are coming out wetter than normal.
When I had the pumps out I cleaned them well.
The drain pump can be broken down as it you can remove the armature. (I'm sure you know that).
I only mention it because the armature was wet and there was some sentiment in the housing. I tried to replace it firmly the O-ring looked fine.
Do you think I need to replace the pump or could this be a pressure switch…or something else?

Thank you

Yes, the drain pump plastic impeller is not turning with the motor properly causing the water not to drain properly.  Replace the drain pump.

I was getting the OE (drain error) error code on my LG WM2032HW.  I found debris in the pump strainer on the lower left of the unit and was thinking I was out of the woods, but OE code reappeared on my next test cycle, halfway through the rinse stage.  I was perplexed because the washer drained after the wash cycle but stopped halfway through the rinse cycle so a drain error did not seem to make sense.  Finally I noticed that there is a small tube that runs from the drain pump assembly to the top of the door gasket.  The tube connects to a plastic fitting that penetrates through the door gasket.  (The function of having water get pumped up to this location I surmise is to simply rinse the soap off of the inside of the door glass).  Anyway, this plastic fitting was completely clogged.  I cleaned out the clog and water now flows freely down the inside of the door, and most importantly I no longer get the OE error.

Thanks so much for pointing out that little drain.  That was my OE error.   After checking the obvious filter and hoses.  I replaced the pump which I felt was ok.  But I was in elimination mode.   Considering a main board replacement.   Until I saw this post.   What an easy fix and common problem.  I am disappointed that neither LG Online Tech or LG troubleshooting does not also have this as a possible culprit.   Thanks again.

That hose you're talking about is a water recirculation hose and uses a different pump for that purpose.  That has nothing to do with the drain pump unless you ordered the wrong pump and installed the recirculation pump instead of the drain pump.
