Problem with Hotpoint RVM1435BJ01 Microwave

When the microwave is running, the screen flickers and displays other characters.  It has also shut off twice while doing this although it usually keeps working.  Is it just the keypad or something else?

Interesting, can't say I have ever run into anything like that yet.

I've seen it 2 or 3 times.  I've only seen it on GE or Hotpoint microwaves.  Replacing the magnetron fixes it.

I have never seen this either but I have read about it several times in different forums, which makes me wonder why I haven’t seen this yet.

Yours may not be exactly like the one on that page but it should give you a good idea on how the magnetron is replaced.

I've seen this twice, and found the solution in another forum, years ago.

The first time, my boss replaced everything electronic except the magnetron!  We finally put in a new control panel, and the problem went away.

The second time, after I had read about the issue, I replaced the magnetron, and problem solved.
