Crosley refrigerator Defrost Issue

I have a defrost issue with a Domicor/Crosley refrigerator, model# GT21Y8FA, which I need to test the heater and bi-metal. It appears the coils are underneath the freezer floor and I cannot figure out how to get to them.

Does anyone have a link to a manual or some tips on how to remove the freezer floor? Also, is the timer located in the rear with the compressor?

Timer is located inside the lower right side, near bottom, of the back of the machine.....you will see a couple of 1/4 inch screws that secure it.  You should see the hole where you can insert a small regular screwdriver to advance the timer.  Before taking freezer apart set your amp meter to six amps and place it around the yellow wire coming off the timer and advance the timer till the you feel a click and the fridge stops running.....now the machine is in defrost.  If you get a reading on the amp meter that tells you everything in the freezer is ok and just change out the defrost timer....if you don't get a reading then the heater or bi-metal in freezer is bad and you have to take freezer apart to check those components.  Always change defrost timer when replacing other components. 

It's hard to describe how to take the freezer apart on a message board, but the freezer floor pulls out after taking the divider (metal strip between freezer and fridge section) is removed.

why do you need to always change timer, never heard of this?

To access the defrost heater and thermostat you first remove both doors.
Then remove the door hinge between the doors.
Remove the separation bar between the freezer and fresh food section.
Use a flat blade screwdriver or putty knife to pull out on the corners of the freezer floor panel.
Be careful not to pry too hard or the corners will break.
Slide the freezer floor panel straight out.
Remove the foam insulation covering the evaporator coil.
The heater is embedded in the coil.
Be very careful removing the heater the coil fins are sharp.

I never automaticaly change the defrost timer when working on a defrost issue .If heater or bimetal are bad then no need to change timer .

However,if the heater is bad,change the bi-metal thermostat also.
