thanks JW, I went back to the drawing board....tested Hall Sensor and....

(1) not getting any cont. on White/Red and White/Blue...so the Hall Sensor is gone as well?.....and...

(2) did the QC test for low drum spin (IF81) and first time it groaned, second time, nothing....test voltage output with just power on (nothing...expected?), then tested in QC test mode...still nothing?

does this mean the power board is faulty.....any double check of this, just so I know I'm not making another rookie mistake?

when testing voltage on motor assembly, did not want to stick probes too close to anything hot, so tested the connectors near base of machine (not where they connect to the stator) THEN went back up and tried PWB motor output....nothing

sorry to be a pain (again)...but hey, I'm learning a lot (like beg a technician to come out of their house-call range)

wow....LG is sticking by it's policy of not sending warranty parts to the general public. An $18 piece of plastic they know is continually defective. I live 70 miles from the nearest LG tech but they still insist I pay someone to make a phone call to send them the part, which they can then send to me.

I will NEVER, EVER buy LG again and will trash their brand to everyone and anyone who will listen.

Very shrewd PR decision LG.

The hall sensor is not covered under the motor warranty policy.  You can buy it online and have it shipped out to you.

<<<wow....LG is sticking by it's policy of not sending warranty parts to the general public.>>>

************

What happens if the *diagnostics* is incorect---and the HALL EFFECT SENSOR has not failed?

Ask LG to send a free WIRE HARNESS? A new MAIN BOARD? Then a STATOR ASSY?

************

<<<An $18 piece of plastic they know is continually defective.>>>

************

The HALL EFFECT SENSOR is not "defective".
The original sensors were prone to damage by incorrect type or amount of detergent.
The soap & detergent industry recommends excessive amounts of detergent (dosage instructions)
This causes the sensor to overheat (resistor) during each load of laundry.
Eventually the sensor is damaged.
Newer sensors are more robust---to withstand *abuse*.

************

<<<The hall sensor is not covered under the motor warranty policy.>>>

************

HALL EFFECT SENSORS are warranted for 10 years (part only/not labor cost)
To "qualify" for a limited warranty/covered part for "free"---an authorized LG servicer must confirm that it has failed.
Since the sensor costs around $18.00---it makes sense for an owner to replace it themselves rather than pay a servicer the diagnostics fee/labor charges.

I had a heated discussion with the regional rep a while back and they told me that the hall sensor is not a covered part.  However the motor does come with the hall sensor in the assembly.  If they changed the policy, that's news to me.
