Frigidaire front loader (MAGNET)

Can one of you seasoned technicians explain  how this magnet works in the despencer!

 Went to the customers house last week.
                 Complaint
Washer will not let water in.
               This is what I did.
Checked the voltage to the solinoids(Got voltage going to all 3)
checked the door loc switch (all ok there).so since i had voltage to the solinoids and they were not opening i ordered them,and to no avail that did not work.Upon my arrivail today to put the part on the customer proceded to tell me she bent down and on her way up she hit her head on the despencer and from that point on it did not work.so i called one of our senior techs and he told me to check for a magnet. I looked no magnet,kicked around some stuff in the cellar and found it.put it back in and all is well.

Hey Chic,

There is a reed switch on the side of the dispenser that lets the machine know when the drawer is open.  When the reed switch is exposed to a magnetic field, the two contacts inside the switch will close allowing current to flow.  No magnet = open circuit.

the magnet on the drawer is in between the drwer front and body

you can depress the clips on the drawer front and remove it to make sure the magnet(rectangle about one inch long) is in its proper slot
