KitchenAid range KGSA906PSS0 hi limit thermostat trips from self clean

Hi everybody:

I'm working on the above noted range and this is the second time in nine months this thermostat (8300802) tripped after using self clean cycle. After a bit of internet snooping, I found this issue is not uncommon. I tried accessing ServiceMatters site with universal log-in & pw for possible service bulletins on this issue, but it appears my info is old & they have slammed the door on non-authorized techs. Any way to gain access to the site, or does anyone have any info on field fixes to prevent this? I was thinking either they may have changed the thermostat limit temp, or provided some sort of spacer to limit sensitivity. FYI, I'm a recently unemployed ELUX/Frigidaire Service Manager with 25 years exp & they just closed & moved our Pgh office to Charlotte NC, so I'm trying to make ends meet & would appreciate any help I can get. I'd like to fix the problem, not just replace part with like item. I don't like callbacks!

Super common,  not sure what others do but we go back with dryer thermostats rated higher than the range ones.

Thanks Mettalikatt. That's a great fix. Don't know why I didn't think of that! Duh on my part! One of those days. 

The original is 110°C (230°F) which seemed a bit low for a single trip TOD, so I'll shoot for something around 250°F or so. Hope 20 to 30 degrees increase will do the trick.

I would still like to know if anyone is aware of an 'official' service bulletin/field fix from Whirlpool on this issue. If it's this common, they should address it.
