Whirlpool Commercial Direct Drive Washer.

Am having a repeat problem with a Whirlpool washer whereby sometimes the tub will not spin but will drain ok.   Lift the lid and then it will start spinning.   Drive, gearbox, basket drive and clutch all seem ok but I suspect the clutch may be the problem.   Is this common with the newer coin-op washers?

sound more like the  timer, but no model number, i will not be able to check
