Kenomore (whirlpool) icemaker
« on: February 21, 2012, 03:30:02 PM »
Model: 106.55546403

I haven't had to replace many icemakers as of yet so could someone double check me on this.
There are 2 manufacturer #'s but looks like I can use either of these:

Icemaker Part # 4317943

or:

Icemaker Part # 1129316

This is a site unseen and a bit of a drive so am throwing the dice that the customer need's a new ice maker.
Thanks folks!

That's what I was thinking,  Repaircinic has the same thing with valve and bucket for about the same price...am I missing something?

Thanks Jumptrout.

Does it look like this but cost more at Repairclinic?

Unfortunately, it's site unseen...customer is closing on the house end of this week and am having to go with his analysis (alway's bites me in the you know what)...It's a hike to go and take a look so will have to go on gut feeling on it...I'm guessing it's the standard WP icemaker and he will not give me any more info than it doesn't work and would like it replaced.  Oy,  wish I was in a position to carry all the part's but not yet...

I carry a Whirlpool W10190965 icemaker on the truck to replace most, It's cheaper than just the module.

I was referring to the one your looking at on Repairclinic website because you said...

Point I was trying to make is the same kit with bucket and valve seem to be cheaper at appliancepartspros.

I also agree with theoldstoveguy, the W10190965 is a good one to stock.

good to know, I will get on it...I have to watch every dollar right now so your input is invaluable!
Thanks, will order the kit and if it doesn't need it I will make my money on the repair and try and hold onto the kit as opposed to sending it back.
Whew, rough right now.

When you get there, jump out the T and H terminals to see if the original unit will work.
Could be just a bad water valve.
Is it SxS? If so take a dual valve.
Any part inside your replacement I/M will go in the bad unit.
You could change out parts and save the day.

Was out there Tue.  Customer just bought the house.  Ended up installing washer/dryer, fixing dishwasher, icemaker, and supposed to install microwave.
Microwave he got was off the shelf from Best Buy (nice Whirlpool) they gave it to him with no wall bracket  ::)  he ended up getting them to send him a new one and they were gonna install for free.
Hooked up the water line to fridge turned on water and had a nice water fountain from the fridge.  Asked the customer if he stored it in the garage (I'm in Michigan) he said yes.  I explained that a fridge need's to be winterized.  Pulled water valve out and sure enough cracked right down the middle.  Couldn't test icemaker but the main gear and post were snapped right off so no brainer, installed the new one from kit and kept the water valve and extra parts from the box.  Great Kit!  We ordered his water valve and I showed him how to install it.  I was already turning in a hefty bill so trying to save him from paying me more.
Great advice with the kit, Thanks O0
