Frigidaire Overn does not work

My Frigidaire oven quit working, the burners on top work, put the oven controls are out. When I went to troubleshoot I found a burnt out componet on the electrical control panel. I was going to order a new circuit board panel, but it there anything that would cause the panel to short out? I don't want to replace with a new one and have the same thing happen again?

Could a defective heating element cause it to short? What should I check first?

most likely your bake element shorted to ground & took control, you can test element with a meter.
