Door hinge twisted, bent, out of shape somehow out of alignment what I suspect.   I find a lot of leaning on the door causes this problem.

I thought I would look at it today but it looks like tomorrow.
So I'll let you know how it turns out.
If I have more questions I'll post.
thanks

Checked it out.Its a maytag Neptune stackable dryer.
MOD mde 6700.
I think it is the door latch.
Does this dryer lock when running.
or do you just shut the door.
I'm going to try and find the
Service manual.
Thanks for any help.

No it does not lock but it does have a door switch so it must stay closed to run.

The door switch is fine.
It is the door latch but the
part num. WHIRLPOOL 279570 looks
different than whats on the dryer.
is that the right part?
thanks
