Find the job aid locator in each category. Open the locator up and look for you machines model number. The aid number is listed in the first column and in the next column is the hyperlink to the job aid and the 3rd column has the model number(s) that job aid cover.

are you saying if i'm looking for a certain model washer manual that should go to laundry and look for a job aid locator icon?

Nice video  O0

What JW shows will work, but only for the service manual from Whirlpool.

Once again I'm on a Mac, so it's going to be different for Window users, but say I want to find the service manual for a model MAH3000AWW.

I search my whole computer using 'Finder' for MAH3000 and with in a second it finds... 16010061 Maytag Neptune Front Load Washer Service Manual.pdf

Notice in this example the title of the .pdf does not have the model number in it, but the text in the service manual does include the model number and it's the reason I can find it searching my computer for 'MAH3000'...

-----------------------------------------

Looking at Adobe Reader some more I think this is how I use to search for them using a Windows computer.

Open Adobe Reader
Click the 'Edit' tab.
In the drop down menu select the 'Advance Search' option.

Choice the folder you want to search in such as 'Laundry' and search for the model number.

The Adobe advance search option seems to be extremely slow and I can see each and every manual in the laundry folder come up in Adobe as it searches it for the model number I entered in the search terms.

Makes me love my Mac even more. :)

Well, thank you both but I'll be damned if I can find a job aid locator anywhere. On the adobe reader there is no advanced search button and I am lost as to how to find a specific model number. I thought this was going to be easy. I have windows xp.

I know there have been a lot of people that have purchased this manual collection and it is all that and more. Great collection to say the least. I have windows xp and I'm wondering how you access a certain model number. Just looking for some feedback, thanks.

Harold,

The job aid locator was removed from the current service manual collection DVD/CD's.

What JW shows in his video is somewhat misleading because when you click on a link in one of the job aid locator files it takes you to Whirlpools servicematters.com website and not everyone has access to the Whirlpool site. It's also misleading because you think your searching the DVD/CD, but your end up online, so I removed the job aid locator files from the DVD/CD to help avoid the confusion.

Besides that the job aid locator only related to Whirlpool service manual and the DVD/CD contains service manuals from many other manufactures besides Whirlpool.

As for searching for a service manual the DVD/CD is nothing more then a collection of .pdf files organized into folders.

It's no different then if you found a service manual online and saved it to the hard drive on your computer. In fact that is how the collection was created. Over the years I have saved these service manuals to my hard drive. The DVD/CD is simply a copy of all the service manuals I have saved to my own computer over the years.

You search for the service manual .pdf file just like you would search for any other file on your computer.

Your search results are only going to be limited by your computer and/or the software program (adobe reader) you are using.

So back to the example of if you found a service manual online and saved it to your computer. How would you find it again?
What if over the years you have found and saved hundreds of service manuals to your computer. How would you find the one you want?

Just trying to give you a different perspective as to how you may search for them.
Hope you find our site helpful.

Harold, I have merged your new topic to this topic as it seems to be about the same subject.

So the question remains, how do Window XP users find the service manual they are looking for?

Not sure I'm being very helpful Harold, but I'm trying.

On the adobe reader there is no advanced search button.

Strange...

I just checked Adobe Reader on a Windows Vista computer. Under the Edit tab I found "Search".
When I click on "Search" a search window opens with some options to pick from. At the bottom of that search window is a link to "Advance Search".
Hope you find our site helpful.

Ok, found that if you put a partial model number in the adobe search box and check appropriate file box such as laundry, if this manual is on the DVD it will come up very fast. . It would be nice to have an index but it is what it is. Thank you all , I appreciate your help.
