Frigidaire oven
« on: February 11, 2012, 07:24:16 PM »
Our Frigidaire oven quit working, the stove top works fine, but there is no power to the clock or the oven controls. I checked the breaker and it is on. What should I check first. I was thinking it could be a transformer or power supply. Please help

The oven light is working

No model no,  I don't see one anywhere on the outside of the oven. It's not to old,  it has a ceramic top, the oven was in the house when we moved in 3 years ago. I am going to take the back cover off in the morning, I Do see what looks to be some burnt components inside the cover.

The model number should be inside the oven or behind the pan drawer.
Without a model number I don't even know if you have a pan drawer.

Hi

My model no on the Frigidaire stove is FEFL78CBC,

I think I found the problem, I opened up the back panel, and a component on the control panel was burnt.

I then check the power going into the control panel and it was 240 volts. Leading me to believe that the circuit board is defective.

My only question is there a component in the stove like a defective heating element that could have made the component short out? My  wife was baking pizza at the time the oven quit, she said she heard a popping sound and then it just shut off. Before I order the control panel and install it I just want to make sure there is not another component that could cause it to short out the new circuit panel

Is there anything else I need to check before I replace the control panel?

Thanks for all your help

most likely your bake element shorted to ground & took control, you can test element with a meter.
clock #  AP3764682   bake # AP2126365

may want to get a new overlay too. # AP2126499

Ohm the element and check it to ground.
If it is OK,you only need the control(and the overlay for your wife).
