Jenn Air Dishwasher JDB1090AWS Dead
« on: February 26, 2012, 03:31:36 PM »
Don't usually get these calls but this unit is dead. Found 120 volts to control board so the door switch/120 wiring is okay. Pretty sure it's the board but want to make sure touch panel isn't culprit. No mini manual found thanks to previous service >:( . It's the board, right?

Thanks, everyone. I'll verify that the part number is correct, I suspect that there were different part numbers depending on serial number. This one starts with 34.

Here's the latest. This job is not yet done :( . Received a controller and went to the customer. Installed it but unit is still dead. Closely examining the box the new part came in I discovered that it was not the original sealing tape so I assumed the part was previously installed. I returned it for credit and ordered a new touch-pad/console which arrived yesterday. I have not yet opened the box. Here's where I can use some help. I went back to the original controller which is in my Shop with the original console; I applied 120 volts to J5 pin 8 and the neutral. On the board, I measured something like 165 vdc at c9, a 250 volt part. There are no leds lighting on the console. I now have questions as to whether the board really is bad and my problem might be the console switches. The missing mini manual is p/n 16026391. Anyone know where it might be up on the net? I managed to 'sneak in' to a tech line at Whirlpool and he told me how to go into diagnostics; norm wash 5x then start. It didn't work. He also told me how to check the keypad ribbon for switch closures but his info was confusing. Other then risking $125 by opening the console box are there any suggestions as to how to proceed?

... I applied 120 volts to J5 pin 8 and the neutral.

you may also need to connect L1 to all (3) of the Black wire connections on the Controller
and Neutral to both of the White wire connections
... to simulate that the Door is closed

I'll try that. Methinks that the other AC, which goes through the door switches feed the circ pump and heater. Good suggestion, though.

I have changed more touch pads on Maytag products than controllers. But as you said no LED when powers up sounds like controller. Did you check the ribbon?

Waiting for a pin-out from a fellow servicer. It is looking like the controller; I think the 'used' part might have been defective; a couple of my suppliers have the controller on back-order. This suggests high-failure in the field....
